Britain is holding the Polocrosse World Cup for the first time since the event started. The event will be the 3rd World Cup that has been held and Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe will competing for the title.

The event is scheduled to take place at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre in Rugby and along side the main event is the Polocrosse International Challenge with teams that didn’t qualify; France, Germany, Norway and Holland.

So, you may be wondering what the sport itself entails. Polocrosse combines the two sports of Polo and Lacross, rider’s use the Lacross stick (a stick with a net attached to the end) to score by throwing the ball between the opposing teams goal posts.

Team GB are expecting a good competition and Sarah Simkin, Team Captain said: “Training has been going very well. We went to Rugby last weekend, and having seen the work that’s being put into the grounds, it’s going to be a fabulous location.”
